The Indiana Fever’s 2025 season has taken a sharp turn. Not long ago, they looked steady with a five-game win streak. Then, almost overnight, they dropped three of their last four in heartbreaking fashion. To make it worse, their point guard rotation is nonexistent. With every game, the call for Caitlin Clark’s return gets louder.

While The Fever brought in Kyra Lambert and veteran Odyssey Sims, the CC magic is still missing. Analyst Terrika Foster-Brasby said the same on We Need To Talk with Alicia Jay and Erica Ayala. Her words echoed what fans already feel. The Fever’s path forward now hinges on regaining the health of their star player.

Talking about the one-point Fever loss to Wings, Foster-Brasby said, “I honestly think that this loss doesn’t necessarily change where I feel they would be for the entirety of the season, but what does change is how much longer Caitlin Clark will be sidelined.” According to Foster-Brasby, Fever’s current pace and inclusion of Sims will carry them to the playoffs, but it will be CC only who can guide them to a championship.

Foster-Brasby also sang praises for Clark’s replacement, but believes she is only good till the playoff run. “I have a ton of respect for Odyssey Sims… She brings a lot of experience….She knows how to pass the ball fairly well. So, I like Odyssey being able to take over as a facilitator. We’ve seen how teams have been impacted when she’s there, but this team absolutely needs to have Clark back to get to the promised land that they have been trying to get to,” she said. However, the industry insider also added a big condition to Clark’s return.

Caitlin Clark’s Return Depends on One Important Factor

Looking at the record, the Fever were doing decently without Clark. They have won six out of their last ten games and have a .545 PCT. But their downhill trajectory started with the Mercury game, where they lost two point guards for the whole season. With the Valkyries, Strom, Sparks, and Mystics breathing down the Fever’s neck for their spot, the return of CC becomes ever so important.

However, Foster-Brasby also believes Clark should only return if she is feeling her best. “You want Caitlin to be able to give you as best production as she possibly can by the time you get to the postseason. You can’t get that if you don’t allow her ample time to rest and get her growing back to a place where she is comfortable playing. That’s a muscle injury. It’s very different than a bone or a joint injury. You really have to allow it to heal,” she said.

She’s saying that if Caitlin Clark can return, it would greatly improve the Fever’s postseason chances. However, they should not rush her recovery. If she cannot play for the rest of the season, the team must find ways to succeed without her. But if CC does not suit up, Fever’s run this season will be one big crash and burn.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Fever survive without Caitlin Clark, or is their season doomed without her magic?
