For Angel Reese, things intensified as the LSU alum came into the spotlight. Her beginning a rivalry with Caitlin Clark back in the 2023 NCAA Championship Game with the ‘You can’t see me’ John Cena gesture was her very first way to jump into stardom for many. And when she did, Stephen A. Smith, despite calling her out on the same, gave her the flowers for being smart. However, the seventh overall pick wasn’t focused on correcting her image as a villain then. Come sophomore year in the professional league, Reese is clapping back.
When she started her offseason podcast Unapologetically Angel, she had one vision– to show people who she really is. The aim was to dissolve any false drama or narrative around her. But in July, the former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III stated, “Angel Reese has grown to hate Caitlin Clark.” She quickly called his claims a lie. Then came another meme at July’s tail end from a parody account, BricksCenter, who shared a post captioning, “Angle Reese to her haters 🔥.”
In the attached image, Reese sat for a presser in front of the All-Star Weekend backdrop from Indy. The quotes, written as if they were hers, read, “Y’all make $1400 a week, I make $1400 in 7 days.” Clearly, the page connected her alleged low-GPA absence during 2024 LSU season, her $1400 Dior bag from the Paris Olympics, and her remarks on her 4-year (s)/ $324,383 rookie salary not paying her bills. But of course, the fake quotes were never from her. And she’s not staying quiet about the disrespect.

Yesterday, Reese hopped into the comments of the post to shut it all the way down. She clarified, “I never said this. yall make up anything.” It felt fake from the jump. The page clearly states in all of its profiles that it is a parody account. But many still believed. After all, Reese has been very open about her finances before. And of course, hitting the metal when it’s hot, the page went for the meme right after the Chicago star showed her interest in being a WNBPA leader one day.

Some of yall are so damn dumb. Grown ADULTS out here can’t tell the difference between a fake AI article and real news. You’d expect kids to fall for that nonsense not full-blown adults. Come on now 🤣🤣🤣. pic.twitter.com/V1C6idfWwN

But if there’s one thing Angel Reese knows how to do, it’s turning online noise into business. Take the whole “mebounds” thing, for example. On the floor, she dominates the glass. Still, last season, people started mocking her for grabbing boards off her own misses, stat padding, and still leading the league in offensive rebounds. What did Reese do? She laughed along and owned it.
“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing… Y’all ate that up,” she said on social media. Then, she trademarked it. “Mebounds” is now an official brand, with T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats already on the way. That’s how you flip a meme into a money-maker. But this $1,400 joke? She didn’t find it clever or funny… it was something she felt crossed a line. She is, undoubtedly, serious about the WNBA pay. And calling her out indirectly when she wants to do something better for the league, indeed, felt that way.
Oh, and if you thought that was the only rumor floating around about her lately, you might want to double-check.

Still, in true Angel Reese fashion, she kept it all very hush-hush. She’s never been one to overshare about her dating life since her LSU days. So, don’t expect a cute couple’s post just yet. But for many fans, this latest sighting says everything. But if it is wrong, we sure know she’ll come back with a response.
