Joe Rogan has welcomed countless memorable guests on his podcast over the years, creating some truly iconic moments. After recently sitting down with Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, Rogan kept the Hollywood momentum going by inviting another star to the table—Taylor Kitsch. Known for his roles in Battleship, John Carter, and more, the Canadian actor brought plenty of stories to share with the UFC commentator.
The 44-year-old spoke about his latest project, the second season of The Terminal List, titled Dark Wolf, which premiered on August 27 on Amazon Prime Video. Regardless, he also looked back on a defining moment from his career—recounting experiences from the 2013 film Lone Survivor, featuring Mark Wahlberg, who plays the role of real-life US Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

Banana shake causes a stir
“I hadn’t met Marcus yet, and (Ben)Foster had driven down, I think, from Texas to New Mexico with Luttrell. I was pretty jealous of that. It’s like you got to spend some real time with Marcus, and I was playing Mike, obviously, who was Marcus’s best friend,” Kitsch recalled. The movie was based on Luttrell’s 2007 nonfiction book of the same name.

In Lone Survivor, Kitsch portrayed Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, the Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient who led the doomed Operation Red Wings mission in Afghanistan in 2005. Murphy and his team came under heavy Taliban fire, and Luttrell was the only survivor. Reflecting on his time filming, Kitsch shared one particular memory that stood out.
“So we’re on this f—ing range doing live fire, like upside down reloads, combat reloads, jamming blindfold—it was just full on,” he said. “Marcus comes, everything goes full stop, and right when he’s coming there’s a PA on the other side bringing f—ing banana shakes out, which is not a good look for these actors.”
“Marcus looks at these shakes, then at the actors, and he’s like, ‘What the f— is happening? You guys don’t get shakes in between.’ And one of the actors just shamelessly goes up and grabs one. He’s meeting Marcus for the first time, and I’m like, ‘You might want to put that down—wait till he f—ing leaves.’”
Beyond the story, this podcast episode marked yet another big name in Rogan’s lineup this past week. With recent appearances from Charlie Sheen, Matthew McConaughey, Jordan Jensen, and now Taylor Kitsch, Joe Rogan has been on a Hollywood hot streak.
