It is an exciting time to be a UFC fan because Dana White and Co. recently revealed the renderings for the White House event next year, which will probably be turn out to be one of the biggest UFC events. But wind the clock back to the present, and the CEO’s plans for UFC Rio fell through after Rafael Fiziev reportedly pulled out of his main event fight against Charles Oliveira. However, it seems like White may have chosen the replacement opponent after fans came across a brief video on social media.
When the news about Rafael Fiziev surfaced on social media, there were a couple of UFC fighters who showed great interest in replacing the Azerbaijani national. The first lightweight contender was Renato Moicano, while the second one was Mateusz Gamrot, who wrote, “I’m ready and hungry to jump in,” on social media. It appears that the Polish lightweight could be the one to replace Fiziev on October 11.
Former Bellator/PFL fighter Yaroslav Amosov recently shared an Instagram story, which later made its way to X. He was seen in an airport with a plane and an American flag emoji, but that wasn’t the most interesting part. It appears that Mateusz Gamrot was also there at the airport, as he greeted and hugged Amosov. But more than that, this has sparked speculation that maybe he’s travelling to the US because he could be fighting Charles Oliveira.

Fans express interest in a Mateusz Gamrot vs Charles Oliveira fight
The first thing that caught the fans’ attention when they saw Mateusz Gamrot travelling. As Yaroslav Amosov added a US flag emoji on his Instagram story, it has led many fans to doubt if it’s really UFC Rio that the Polish fighter is traveling to. “A plane and a US flag infers he’s fighting in rio. Got it,” one of those fans wrote on X. But then, one fan recalled Charles Oliveira’s last fight, indicating that they didn’t like seeing him getting knocked out. Well, that’s unlikely to happen against Gamrot, who’s a wrestling-heavy fighter, and for that, Do Bronxs’s fans seem content. “Don’t have to worry about Charles getting knocked out at least.”
Meanwhile, the UFC community seems to be fully on board with the possibility of watching Gamrot vs Oliveira, with some fans believing that “It would be banger.” Also, the fans backed the Polish fighter on this one, claiming that the American Top Team fighter might just be the right pick for Dana White. “I hope he gets it. He deserves one more shot at the top,” wrote one X user, as another doubled down on their wish to see the fight. “We wanna see this. Let’s gooooo!”

The fans also did not spare taking a few jibes at Arman Tsarukyan. Given that the Armenian star, who missed his title shot at UFC 311, hasn’t fought for so long, people believe that there is an opportunity for Mateusz Gamrot to take a step closer to his chances of earning a title shot. One of the fans wrote, “lmao at this point even Gamrot can leapfrog Arman if he wins against Oliveira.” On the other hand, a fan had a theory that the “winner MIGHT fight Arman.” What do you think?
