With the Dana White & UFC on pause this past Saturday, the spotlight naturally shifted across the Atlantic to its European rival—the Czech Republic–based promotion, Oktagon. The organization staged one of its most talked-about events to date with Oktagon 76, held inside the Festhalle in Frankfurt, a marquee venue in Germany’s fight scene.
At the center of the buzz was viral sensation and light heavyweight contender Frederic Vosgrone, who has become famous among fans as “Paddy Lesnar”—a nod to his uncanny mix of Paddy Pimblett’s boyish look and Brock Lesnar’s powerhouse frame. Standing 6’0”, Vosgröne has quickly established himself as a dominant force across Western Europe and Germany’s MMA circuit. On Saturday night, Vosgrone once again lived up to the hype.

‘Paddy Lesnar’ calls out promotion after dominant Oktagon 76 win
In the co-main event, Frederic Vosgrone dispatched Fabio Moraes via a picture-perfect rear-naked choke, thereby keeping his undefeated record and 100% finish rate intact. However, it wasn’t just the victory that had MMA fans and media buzzing. Instead, the real drama unfolded later in the evening during the post-fight press conference, where Vosgrone delivered a bombshell aimed directly at the promotion. “I don’t know if I’m going to fight at Oktagon again,” Vosgrone told members of the media at Oktagon 76’s post-fight press conference, and the room fell silent. “I don’t know if I’m going to fight again for an organization that treats me like s*** every time I fight here, or if I am attending an event.”

Oktagon has long promoted Frederic Vosgröne as one of its most recognizable stars, even marketing him with the fan-favorite ‘Neanderthal’ nickname to draw the attention of the MMA world. Although the promotion had already booked him for Oktagon 78 on October 18 at the Lanxess Arena, Saturday night’s events have thrown his participation next month into question. “I don’t know if the fight in Cologne is going to happen. That’s all I have to say,” the German standout said before walking out, leaving the media and fans speculating.
Sources report that the German light heavyweight is planning a move to Fight Nation Championship, driven by mounting frustration with Oktagon. His anger flared after officials denied his girlfriend fighter accreditation in Frankfurt, blocking her from entering the cage after his win.
It’s not the first time he’s felt disrespected. Vosgröne also pointed to lingering issues from Oktagon 72 in Prague, where past events left him frustrated with the promotion. This provides the UFC bigwigs an opportunity to sign Vosgröne as the next potential star for their promotion. Now, with his star power rising by the day, fans are asking the big question: could Dana White and the UFC be his next home?

Frederic Vosgrone weighs in on comparisons to UFC stars Brock Lesnar and Paddy Pimblett
When Frederic Vosgrone stepped into the Oktagon cage on April 5 this year, he didn’t just make a debut—he made an entrance. The 29-year-old light heavyweight relentlessly dominated Jorick Montagnac, immediately drawing comparisons to UFC icons. Fans around the world erupted in excitement. The German phenom’s striking appearance—blending Paddy Pimblett’s features, Brock Lesnar’s powerhouse frame, and Dricus du Plessis’ athletic build—combined with his lethal in-cage skills, propelling him into viral stardom overnight.
Europe suddenly had a new MMA star capable of dominating both social media and the fight scene. Oktagon has already scheduled his next outing. Promoters fully back him, but the MMA community continues to amplify his rising star power, fueling the buzz around his uncanny celebrity comparisons. Even with all the hype, Frederic Vosgrone is cool with it. “Many years ago, when I competed on the UK grappling scene,” Vosgrone told talkSPORT.com in Frankfurt ahead of his light heavyweight co-main event. “I remember Paddy Pimblett posting a picture of me on Instagram because people messaged him saying that I looked like him.”

“But that was before he had his breakthrough… Obviously, it’s great to be named in the same sentence as one of the biggest stars now. And Brock Lesnar, too. I remember in Brazil, when I was training there as a purple belt, many years ago, they would always call me Brock Lesnar. It’s a pretty cool comparison. Brock Lesnar is much scarier than Paddy Pimblett, so I’ll stick with Brock Lesnar.”
With his striking looks and undeniable skills, the Germany-born fighter is quickly making waves across the MMA scene. Despite his growing prominence, his next career move remains uncertain. Could the UFC be his next destination?
