The entire world of gymnastics is waiting for one news – The return of Simone Biles. And the timeline might align with the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Of course, the ‘Queen of Flips’ has been teasing us for so long. But now, events appear to have gotten a bit more interesting, following her heartwarming appearance at the game between the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys.
As she went on to support her husband, the Bears’ safety, Jonathan Owens, Biles paired up with her long-time friend and rival, Suni Lee. The duo even performed a dubstep before stepping onto Soldier Field in Chicago. The audio in the background? It said, “Okay, guys, we’re back! Did you miss us? Because we missed you!” But as the excitement around Biles’ return went high, she had only one question to ask her 12.2M followers on Instagram.
In the caption of her recent post, she wrote, “Can I get a “bear down” 👀🐻🧡.” Of course, it was directed to shed some light on the Bears’ impeccable win over the Cowboys with a scoreline of 31-14. But the gymnastics community seemed to stay focused on one thing – Simone Biles’ return to the gymnasium. With 11 Olympic medals in her closet, will she actually fight for her 12th Olympic medal in the upcoming LA Olympics?

Well, things aren’t really as smooth as we’d like to think. Biles is 28 years old, and every moment she inches closer to being 30, she’s also closing in on reduced mobility, a slower recovery rate, and a higher risk and frequency of injuries. But let’s hear it directly from the Olympian.
Will Simone Biles ever make a return to the world of gymnastics?
Earlier in the year, Biles talked with the media and claimed she had accomplished several things. Right now, nothing motivates her to make another colossal achievement. She stated, “I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.” And now, the sacrifices she has to make to compete have also changed. In school, it was prom nights that she had to miss. In college, the sacrifices included social functions. But now, things are different. She claimed, “Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?”

In another conversation with the French sports daily, L’Equipe, Biles revealed, “I’m really trying to enjoy life, to spend time with my husband [NFL player Jonathan Owens], go support him at his games, live my life as a woman. I’ve accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, it would really have to excite me. A lot of people think it’s just a one-year commitment, but it truly is the four years leading up to the Olympics. It’s in LA, it’s back in the States, which is so exciting. But if I’m going to compete again, I’m not so sure.”
Nevertheless, we can still continue with our wishful thinking. Who knows… We might actually get to see Simone Biles dominating the stage once again. But we’d still have to wait and watch.
