This time, when Noah Lyles graced the Japan National Stadium, he was sporting a hairstyle with blonde deadlocks. The hairstyle was very similar to the one he had back in 2022, when he recorded the time of 19.31s in 200m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. While many thought that the Olympic Champion donned this style as a metaphor of him going back to his good old form, the Canadian online streamer has some different thoughts.
In a clip shared on Instagram, Canadian streamer Félix Lengyel (a.k.a. xQc), could be seen reacting to Noah Lyles’ appearance at the World Athletics Championships. xQc shared his thoughts on how Lyles could run much faster if he removed accessories like a bracelet and made his hair look more static. “Remove the bracelet and remove the watch. Make the hair more back or static, and you’re shaving off a point or two points. For the record chat this is cause for friction, cause for drag, Cause for extra weight and whatnot,” he said.
The Olympian defended his 200m world title in 19.52 seconds, and just so you know how impressive that was, Kenny Bednarek finished second in 19.58 seconds. 6 hundredths of a second behind Lyles, which is a lot in track events. But it fails to impress the streamer. More so, the $50M worth streamer also commented on Letsile Tebogo’s overall appearance and drew an analogy with aerodynamics.

He said, “This guy shaved even his eyebrows; he doesn’t give a f-. This guy’s aerodynamic. His mustache is in front. It diverts the wind. It actually gives air a better pathway out, like a car.” Throughout his career, Tebogo has maintained a clean-shaven head, often complemented by a short beard and mustache.
Ironically, he could not finish at the podium in the 200m finals of the World Athletics Championships, finishing 4th in his season best of 19.65s. Also, one can never root out Lyles’ to not surprise his fans with new hairstyles, because he keeps changing it, especially when there is a World Championship around.

The different hairstyles of Noah Lyles around the World Championships
In the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships, the Olympian was looking forward to sporting a new aerodynamic hairdo that could potentially shave precious milliseconds off his times. Ultimately he wore his hair in braids/two-strand twists pulled back with a lightning-bolt pattern worked into the parting. In fact, his coach wanted his hair to be aerodynamic for Budapest.
Talking about his hairdo, he said, “We decided to do two braids to the outside, because we feel that it structures my face really well. Then we created the lightning bolt, and then we finally did fishbone braids in the middle of that dead space. So where you would usually lay the hair down, we just decided to do fishbone braids so that it would stay for longer periods of time.” Well, that hair worked for him.
In Budapest, he started with a win in the 100 m, crossing the line first in 9.83 seconds to clinch the world title. He defended his 200m title, clocking 19.52 seconds. To top it all off, Lyles anchored Team USA in the 4×100 m relay, pulling clear on the final leg to seal gold in 37.38 seconds ahead of Italy and Jamaica.

Before the 2019 USATF Championships, the Olympic champion had dyed his hair silver, crediting it to his love for anime.”In Dragon Ball Z, Goku’s final stage, or form, is Ultra Instinct. His hair turns silver/gray. I’m ready to go. I’m ready to make the team. I’m in my highest state,” he said. That year, he won the 200m national title, crossing the line in 19.78 seconds, but he lost in the 100m. Then in the 2019 World Championships in Doha, he won the 200m world title clocking 19.83 seconds, and also ran the anchor leg in the 4x100m relay, making sure the gold came to the USA in 37.10 seconds.
Indeed, Lyles continues to dominate the track with his performances all while serving looks with his grooming skills, don’t you think?
