Before the season, the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was fully locked in. With offensive stars like Derrick Henry by his side, he was ready to go. But the season opener gave him a reality check. The Bills closed a 15-point lead in the 4th quarter to win the game by 41-40. Ask the Ravens flock, this loss stings.

After 3 games, they now sit at a 1-2 win-loss record, showing concerns in the lineup. Speaking to the reporters after practice on September 24, the QB was asked if he wanted longer drives. He confessed, “Let’s score again fast. If that team is having a game on the opposing team, offense is having a day, we still got to put points on the board. We can’t rely on slowing down, cuz, go back to Bill’s game when we did that, those guys made a comeback. So, we just got to do our job and put points on the board each and every job if we could.” Well, Baltimore has never been poor in scoring.

They won the week 2 game by 41-17 and even lost to the Lions in week 3 by 30-38. After 3 games, Lamar Jackson & co. lead the league in receiving touchdowns (9) and are 6th in the league in rushing TDs (4). But yes, the defense has stumbled at times. Against the Lions, they allowed RB David Montgomery to rush the ball for 72 yards, with the 96-yard play.

Moreover, theitr trusted running back Derrick Henry has also slipped up a few times. In 3 games, he has a fumble in each of them. That has to stop. Last year, during the divisional playoff game against the Bills, the Ravens lost the game by 25-27 as TE Mark Andrews fumbled the ball in the 4th quarter.

Yet, fans expect Smiley Face to collect his teammates and pump them up to lower their mistakes. With the week 4 game against their perennial rivals, the Chiefs, coming up, it’s high time. That’s why he also sent a message to his locker room.

Lamar Jackson has an urgent action plan

Don’t be mistaken by their poor winning record for a poor game. Offensively, they are still leading the league with 37 points per game. That’s why Lamar Jackson made an urgent demand to his teammates, “We gotta lock in. We’ve got to play Ravens football. We’ve got to tighten up. It’s a long season ahead of us, but we’ve just got to lock in.” That’s what his teammates needed to hear.

Lamar Jackson is flying. With 9 touchdowns and a 141.8 passer rating, he has been doing everything he can. But there’s another angle to it. The job of quarterback. Leadership! He has to take care of them as well and show them the path on which they can walk. That’s why the Ravens always bet big on him.

Also, as he clearly pointed out, they need to alter their approach. If you watch the scoreboards of all three games, here’s a trend.

Opponent1st Quarter score (Ravens- Rival)Half time score (Ravens- Rival)Final score (Ravens- Rival)

Now, the difference between the scores at different intervals clearly shows that the Ravens pick up their scoring rate in the 2nd half. It goes up from the 1st quarter to the 2nd quarter and then reaches extreme highs by the end of the game. That’s what Lamar Jackson wants his team to improve. And if that really happens, they will have a much better rate of dominating their rivals.

The best example we have is from the Super Bowl LIX when the Eagles overwhelmed the Chiefs and sat 24-0 at halftime. So, if Lamar Jackson is truly aiming for the championship, these minor tweaks are highly needed.
