When the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Jaguars in week 2 with 31-27, HC Liam Coen didn’t mince words while expressing his frustration with QB Trevor Lawrence’s pass. The heated exchange was caught live on camera as Liam thumped his chest to explain where Trevor should pass. It had the QB react in a way that went instantly viral. Was it a fight or something more casual? Someone close to the Jaguars is clearing the air.

On September 24, Arik Armstead, the Jaguars’ DE, appeared on the Up and Adams show, where he talked about the Jaguars’ recent win against the Houston Texans, ending in 17-10. But that was not all. As one thing led to another, the discussion about the Lawrence-Coen clash came up. To set the record straight, Arik explained how coach Coen impacts the QB. “I think he’s having a huge effect on Trevor…the edge he wants Trevor to have…How you command the huddle, how you communicate with people… Liam is doing all those things and they have a really good relationship.”

Arik, while confirming the Jags’ locker room’s feelings, admitted that all is well. He noted, “What happened in the Bengals game… I know it went viral, Trevor seemingly waving off Liam. We discussed that as a team… from the outside…looking like they’re arguing but in heated battles like that… sometimes you have to communicate with one another.” He was clearing a misunderstanding that every fan must’ve developed by seeing that short clip. “If there’s confusion, you know that love and bond you have… and we’re in this together.”

It all happened in the fourth quarter of the play vs the Bengals. The Jaguars had a slim 27–24 lead. Lawrence threw a pass which was directed towards Dyami Brown, but it went a little too far. Brown could not catch it. As soon as the catch was missed, all the cameras pointed to their head coach, who was seen thumping his chest several times, possibly telling Lawrence to aim the pass a little lower. Lawrence’s reply? A simple waving of the hand. A simple gesture was big enough for fans to catch on to it. As for the game, some would think Joe Burrow’s absence due to an injury might have helped the Jaguars win the game. QB Trevor Lawrence gave a mixed performance during the game. He had three TDs to his name, threw two interceptions. This gave him a poor 34.9 QB rating. Even with the loss looming large, we can assume that there is no bad blood between the coach and the QB, and things seem to have been working for them just fine.

Everything is fine between Lawrence and Coach Coen

Trevor Lawrence’s $275 million contract extension with the Jaguars had fans questioning after the clash video went viral. The sight of the hand waving had some upset fans express their frustrations. Big words like “Prince” and Lawrence, not “liking to play” the game, were used. Some took it too far and said that he was in only for “salary continuation.

While talking about the clash, Liam added,

“I was pissed…It is what it is. That’s emotion. It’s not personal ever. That’s just kind of me getting worked up.” This comes after the Jaguars defeated their long-time rivals, the Texans, 17-10, in the last Monday Night Football match. It was kind of a historic win for the team as it appears to be their first win against the Texans since 2017.

QB Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas sealed the win as the HC lauded Lawrence on his throw, “

He threw a dime in the back of the end zone…He’s pretty even-keeled, which is good for me. I need that.” In the fourth quarter, Travis Etienne Jr.’s TD gave them a winning streak. while their defence seemed to be working tightly as well.
