Let’s go back a few days. Week 3 game between the NY Giants and Chiefs. Russell Wilson found it hard to make space. In a bid to close the mounting score gap, he threw the pigskin but went above the heads of his receivers in the end zone. 80,690 fans erupted while shouting, “Dart, Dart!!” HC Brian Daboll chimed in after the game and said he would have had a similar reaction. Now, he has taken a hard stand. After going 0-3 in the first 3 games, they are going ahead with the Ole Miss alumnus Jaxson Dart. And the first-round pick (25th overall) is ready.

He talked to reporters after the September 24 practice. When asked about his preparation for QB1 role, the rookie replied bluntly, “I’m just trying to be prepared each and every day, and I think that my study habits and having those extra meetings are going to put me in a good position to be confident when I’m in those meetings, when I’m on the field, making checks, whatever it may be. That way I can just play fast in the guys, can have a lot of confidence in me.” Now, that shows he is pumped to start.

The Giants HC has already taken some pressure off the rookie starter by saying, “It’s my decision.” But in reality, there’s no alternative route. Dart has to win. The only way forward is to win. If he fails, there’s another charismatic QB, Jameis Winston, sitting on the sidelines.

Speaking of support, Jaxson Dart will get enough backing from Russell Wilson, too. Even in the early offseason, the veteran Super Bowl winner took him and other offensive players out for dinner. It was his way of team bonding. Now, even after getting benched, his mindset remains positive. He echoed the supportive sentiment during the September 24 media presser, claiming, “I just told (Dart), I’ve got your back.” That’s a big win for Brian Daboll. At least, he has succeeded in keeping his locker room full of teammates ready to help each other.

However, these things spell doom for the 36-year-old veteran. He is looking for a franchise where he can play for the next 5 years.

Russell Wilson will stay with the Giants

The recent times have been tough for the Big Blue. They haven’t qualified for the playoffs in the last 2 years. When Russell Wilson came in, they had high hopes, which crashed with every defeat. Now, he is given a new role as a backup. After being a starter for 13 consecutive seasons, that’s not a good sign for his game.

However, Mr. Unlimited is not concerned. He said, “I want to be here, I love this organization, I love the process of it all. I love the guys in the locker room, I’m not giving up on us in this season. Sometimes there’s battles and things that you face in life or in sport, and I’m going to help lead the way in every way I can to make sure that we figure that out.”

That’s a big promise for the NY Giants, who saw their 6-year starter Daniel Jones leave them mid-season last year. So, Brian Daboll must be happy, having a veteran like Russell Wilson will only boost their chances of turning around the poor season record. Amid all this, Wilson is also leaning back on his support system. Family!

He first shared a Bible verse on his Instagram stories. It read All Honor by doing everything in the name of God. But he then shared an IG story of his wife Ciara with a family photo and caption, “My why! Love you guys.” It’s clear. The developments do not faze Russell Wilson, and he will aim for glory in New York.
