The New York Giants had lost both of their NFL 2025 season games, but Russell Wilson bounced back in the QB ranking after their second game against the Dallas Cowboys. This looked like a glimmer of hope in the sinking ship of Giants. But it looks like even that glimmer of hope is slowly fading away, especially after Russell’s last gridiron performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. The defeat made the Giants’ 2025 season basket a little heavier with a third loss and put Russell Wilson in the spotlight.
In the game against the Chiefs, Wilson ended up with some questionable stats. He completed 18 out of 32 passes for 160 yards. This came without any touchdown passes, two interceptions, and two sacks. With Wilson’s performance, questions regarding his replacement started echoing in the NFL realm, and ESPN analyst Chase Daniel even had a name to replace Russell Wilson.
On 22nd September, Chase Daniel took to X (formerly Twitter) to not only show his disappointment with Wilson’s performance but to name the player who will replace him. “Hey @DMRussini….ask the Giants if they are ready to put Jaxson Dart in now? He’s ready to play…STOP waiting. Time is now,” Daniel Tweeted.

He tagged NFL insider Dianna Russini because, back on August 26th, she appeared on Soop City with Chase Daniel, and they both agreed on Jaxson Dart playing as QB for the Giants. While Daniels said, “The way for Brian Daboll to keep his job in a losing season is to show some hope and growth with Jaxson Dart”, Russini said that a GM told her that Jaxson Dart should start week 1.
Now all those predictions are starting to come true after Wilson’s struggle on the field. Chase Daniel has earlier mentioned how Jaxson has cleared everything thrown at him and is now ready to take the big role. In the same appearance at Soop City, he said, “You constantly and continuously test him. There are different test points, right? Like training camps, OTAs, preseason, practice, and all sorts of other activities. And he has just passed those with flying colors.”
In the last game against the Chiefs, Dart played three snaps, handing off twice to Cam Skattebo and scrambling once for three yards. In the game against the Cowboys, he also handed off twice and ran once. Dart had signed a four-year, $17 million contract with the Giants, promising to be the future of the Team, but it looks like that future has arrived way before expectation. However, Dart taking on the big role isn’t limited to analysts and experts, as he has also received approval from the fans.

Fans approve of Jaxson Dart, but Russell Wilson responds firmly
After witnessing Wilson’s struggle on the gridiron against the Chiefs, fans didn’t waste time in showing their disapproval for Wilson. Wilson was booed repeatedly by the fans. And when he threw his second interception of the first half, the stadium echoed with the chants “We Want Dart”. Although Wilson didn’t react to this chant on the field, he later addressed the chants.
What’s your perspective on:
Should the Giants gamble on Jaxson Dart now, or stick with the experienced Russell Wilson?

During the postgame conference, Wilson said, “I think there’s highs and lows, there’s always tough moments.” Wilson said. “You’ve got to have thick skin, you’ve got to be able to know who you are and the player that you are, know what you’re capable of. I’ve been able to show that throughout my career and obviously last week and everything else too.”

Wilson and Dart are two QBs at two completely different stages of their life. While Wilson seeks to prove his legacy on the field, Dart is looking forward to making his first NFL impression. Although Giant’s Coach Brian Daboll has said “I’m not gonna answer that,” when asked about Russell’s status, he should look for answers soon before the Giants further decline.
