The boos kept getting louder with New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson’s every mistake against the Kansas City Chiefs. One look at the stats proves just how bad this game went for Wilson. He completed 18 of 32 passes for 160 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. After a 0-3 record, frustration is understandable. While fans were quick to demand that the team bench the veteran QB, coach Brian Daboll has a different approach to the situation.

Speaking of the underwhelming start to the season, the coach pointed out that the team as a whole needs to improve this season. “That’s not the goal. We’ve got to put a complete game together, all three phases. We’ve got to do all of that,” he said during the press conference.

While the Giants have star players who can change games, their weaknesses keep dragging the team down. An injured, shaky offensive line and a vulnerable secondary have been the persistent problems for the team.

Speaking of Week 3, the Chiefs, who are yet to be back on their usual explosive offense, managed to grab a 6-0 lead late in the first half against the Giants thanks to kicker Harrison Butker’s two field goals. While the Giants tried to gain a lead in the second quarter, a few mistakes and missed points prevented them. While the secondary kept allowing easy passes, the defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen’s plans also hasn’t been effective.

So, the Giants seemingly have plenty to fix. On the other hand, the veteran quarterback Wilson has been inconsistent. He had his worst performance in Week 1 with 168 yards and no touchdowns. However, he showed his elite performance in Week 2 with 450 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.

Again, he did the opposite in Week 3 when he completed 18-of-32 passing for 160 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Moreover, there were bad throws, mistakes that disappointed the Giants’ fans. The frustration went up to the point where the fans even began to demand that the coach let rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart start the game.

On the other hand, Dart saw limited action, taking three snaps and handing off twice to running back Cam Skattebo. His brief appearances drew cheers from the crowd. After the game, Wilson addressed the chants and added, “Yeah, there are highs and lows and always tough moments. You know, you got to have thick skin, you know what I mean?” He added, “You got to be able to know who you are, the player that you are, know what you’re capable of.”
