Kenny Moore has built a reputation as one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks, and he was backing it up again this season.

Through three games, he posted nine total tackles, including five solos, and capped it off against the Tennessee Titans with a 32-yard interception return. The Colts won 41-20. But that win came at a cost.

Moore exited in the fourth quarter with a calf injury and never returned, missing the Colts’ postgame celebrations. Calf injuries can be tricky, often lingering longer than expected, and his absence left a question mark over Indianapolis’ secondary.

The Colts wasted little time responding. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, they are signing veteran cornerback Mike Hilton to the practice squad.

Hilton, a respected presence with 13 career interceptions and 66 tackles for loss, brings proven experience to help steady the group if Moore is sidelined.

During his last year’s stint with the Cincinnati Bengals, he was a starter in 10 out of 16 games.

But after his contract was up with the Bengals, the veteran CB was looking for a perfect opportunity.

He was also with the Miami Dolphins’ training camp for this season. But the Phins waved him off and trimmed the roster to 53 players.

In late August, Hilton had already visited Indianapolis for a workout, and now the move has finally come full circle. He’ll reunite with defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, with whom he spent the past four seasons in Cincinnati.

The Colts are betting on Hilton’s experience to stabilize a veteran-heavy cornerback room that already includes Charvarius Ward and Xavien Howard.

At 31, though, Hilton isn’t viewed as a long-term solution.

That’s why the bigger question lingers over Kenny Moore—how soon can he return, and how much will his absence shape the Colts’ defense moving forward?

Latest update on Kenny Moore’s injury

Although Moore was able to get up and walk off the field, which suggested a minor injury, later updates about his injury confirmed the status.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Moore has suffered a calf injury and is going to miss a couple of weeks. He also mentioned that it’s not a major injury.

Later, another update came from veteran reporter Stephen Holder. But his latest tweet raised concerns.

He tweeted, “This is related to veteran Kenny Moore II’s calf/Achilles injury. Closer examination was scheduled for today. But initially heard some optimism. Still TBD.”

This has brought in the chances of Achilles injury, which is considered one of the worst injuries in the NFL and can lead to a player missing the entire season.

As of now, nothing is confirmed, and fans are hoping that Moore will make a comeback soon.
