The Los Angeles Chargers built a three-game winning streak. The clock was ticking in the final moment with 2:44 remaining. Justin Herbert connected with veteran WR Keenan Allen for a touchdown, making the score even.

Then, under the direction of Jim Harbaugh, Herbert orchestrated another drive to set up Cameron Dicker‘s decisive 43-yard field goal. Victory sealed at 23-20, favoring Los Angeles. One of the loudest cheers for this splendid move came from Grace Harbaugh, head coach Jim’s daughter.

She didn’t keep her excitement to herself. Instead, Grace shared two Instagram stories from the game at SoFi Stadium. As the Chargers completed their remarkable comeback, the stadium erupted, with the crowd on its feet roaring in celebration, and she, stunned and exhilarated, was seen screaming in disbelief alongside her friend. “Absolute cinema,” she wrote as the caption on her story. Indeed, it was.

In the second Instagram story, she appreciated her brother, Jay Harbaugh, the Seattle Seahawks special team’s coordinator. She reshared a reel by the official Seahawks Instagram handle when receiver Tory Horton sprinted 95 yards to the end zone on a punt return against New Orleans.

She wrote, “Hug me brotha !!!! so proud of you,” tagging his Instagram handle. Jay was honored with the game ball by Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald as a gesture to recognize his contributions with a couple of special team plays that brought the Seahawks a 44-13 victory over the Saints.

Despite being a Division I water polo athlete, Grace always had an active interest in gridiron. Following the Chargers’ preseason game against the Saints, she gave the team a Hollywood-inspired play-calling tip. “Enough with the trick plays Burt, run the dang ball !” she wrote, referencing the line by Sandra Bullock’s character in ‘The Blind Side’. Her tip was mainly directed at quarterback Herbert, who goes by the nickname Burt among his family. This straightforwardness is genetic in Harbaughs.

Her father, Jim Harbaugh, is a big believer in “Smash-mouth ethos, intense preparation, emotional leadership.” His proven coaching legacy with a 55-25-1 NFL record is proof that it works. While his daughter appreciated the Week 3 victory by calling it ‘Absolute cinema,’ he couldn’t find the right word to describe it.

Jim Harbaugh at a loss for words

Harbaugh has a trademark habit of tossing out memorable phrases and inventive analogies whenever he’s in front of the media or with his team. But this time, seeing his team pull off a remarkable comeback, he found himself at a loss for words. “I don’t think I have the vocabulary to really express how great I feel with this win,” he admitted post-game. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t appreciate his team.

“Just the admiration for our team, for our players and coaches, and just everybody. Three wins in three games. It’s taken everybody,” he added.

Quarterback Herbert also addressed the media post-game, sharing what went through his head while making the comeback play in the final moments of the game. “The offense took the field, and we knew we had one job. It’s to go move the ball and go score. And that’s exactly what we did,” he illustrated.

Harbaugh knew Herbert possessed the skills to be great when he hopped on board, and their mutual trust brought the Chargers this far.

The Chargers brought Harbaugh in 2024, after being fed up with testing their chances every season. It didn’t take him long to make both sides of the trenches stronger.

In his debut season, they succeeded in the playoffs with an 11-6 record—a solid comeback from their 5-12 demise of 2023. This season, he’s insistent on making the Chargers a serious Super Bowl contender. These three wins mark the Phase 1 of his plan.
