Josh Allen recently expanded his endorsement deal with Buffalo-based New Era to include an investment stake…in a hat company. And this deal involves Josh Allen rocking a one-of-a-kind 9FORTY cap made by patients at Buffalo’s Oishei Children’s Hospital.

Wondering who designed the artwork on Allen’s cap tonight? It’s 15-year-old MaKenzie, who’s been battling sickle cell anemia since she was a newborn. She’s one of the many talented kids at the Oishei Children’s Hospital. Every single dollar from this hat goes straight to the Patricia Allen Fund.

And you’ll be seeing a new hat every time Josh Allen walks into the home tunnel ahead of the matchup. After the game, he signs the cap and puts it up for auction, with all proceeds going to aid the Oishei Children’s Hospital. It’s a rather unique way to turn his game-day tradition into something that gives back to the Buffalo community. The best part of this initiative?

It lets us hear the incredible stories of some truly brave kids. Take the Week 1 hat, for example—designed by Jaxson, a courageous five-year-old who spent 44 days in the OCH NICU and has endured multiple surgeries while living with myotonic dystrophy. Allen’s gesture goes beyond raising money for the hospital—it gives these kids and their families hope. It wasn’t just about Jaxson, but his family too. The moment was unforgettable, with his father calling it “surreal” to see his child’s artwork on Josh Allen’s head.

New Era and the Bills have made the process simple for fans. The auctions run through the New Era Cap Foundation’s GiveSmart page (Week 1’s opened at kickoff and closed Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. ET), giving bidders confidence. Both New Era and the Bills stress that each cap comes with authentication and verified signatures, so supporters know they’re getting the real deal.

For Josh Allen, this is just another way to give back to a community he’s deeply connected to—and it’s far from the first time.

Josh Allen is a leader on and off the field

Josh Allen is fully aware of the platform he holds, and he consistently finds ways to make the most of it. Over the years, Allen has contributed millions to causes that are close to his heart, with a significant portion of that work done in honor of his late grandmother.

Have an interesting take?

In 2020, after the passing of his grandmother Patricia Allen, Bills fans came together to honor her memory by donating in $17 increments—symbolic of Allen’s jersey number—directly to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. That incredible outpouring of support added up to more than $1 million in contributions.

Allen’s philanthropic reach also extends to his alma mater, Firebaugh High School in California. In 2021, after fans spotted him wearing a vintage Firebaugh Eagles hoodie, there was widespread interest in getting similar apparel. A limited sale of these hoodies raised more than $90,000, and Allen added an extra $10,000 himself.

Oh, and in March 2020, Allen stepped up during the early days of the pandemic by donating $25,000 to the Terry and Kim Pegula Western New York COVID-19 Community Response Fund. On top of that, he matched an additional $10,000 in donations to Kaleida Health’s COVID-19 Response Fund.

And the hat initiative with New Era just adds to that. “Buffalo has become home for me, and giving back to the community through my partnership with New Era means a lot,” he said. “New Era has believed in me since I was a rookie, and I believe in the brand and where we are going.” Additionally, on the field, the quarterback is making his mark, heading to win another MVP for the year.
