A team that went 0-10 against the top three teams in the regular season yet made it to the Eastern Conference Finals says a lot about their character. The New York Knicks marked their first trip to the Conference Finals in 25 years, since 2000, and the first time in 26 years they’ve clinched a playoff series at home, the last being the 1999 NBA playoffs! Despite last season’s heartbreak, they’ve returned stronger, ready to fight for a championship once again.
Led by captain Jalen Brunson, who also earned the Clutch Player of the Year award, the Knicks have plenty to be excited about. Brunson notched 10 out of 18 playoff games this past season with at least 30 points and five assists, showcasing his ability to take over in big moments. With him firing on all cylinders, the roster intact, and a new coach at the helm, the anticipation for Knicks fans is higher than ever. Before hitting the court in preseason, the team will first tackle its media obligations.

When is Knicks Media Day?
The New York Knicks’ media day is set to take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The majority of the narrative would be around the addition of their new coach, Mike Brown, who was hired a month after the team fired long-time coach Tom Thibodeau. He was the winningest coach in their 5 seasons together, but their run ended with the defeat to the Pacers. Not just him, everyone, all the way from the coaching staff to the front office executives, will be present for the media day.
They will begin their media day duties earlier than a lot of teams. Since the Knicks are traveling outside of North America for the 2025 Preseason. Other teams with a similar commitment are the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Phoenix Suns. After a grueling day of questioning about what’s about to come, the players will then head to take part in their training camp, and later will kick-start their preseason tour.

Can Mike Brown do the unthinkable?
The team that made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals is retaining the same core. No injuries, no trades, the same team with the same personnel will be back on the hardwood. If last season there were questions around fewer rotations, then the head coach Brown made sure to add depth on the bench. The additions are Malcolm Brogdon, Jordan Clarkson, and Guerschon Yabusele. So, it’s clear that the confidence to win and break the drought since 1973 is the utmost priority.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Mike Brown finally break the Knicks' championship drought, or is it just another false dawn?
Have an interesting take?
Financially, the Knicks have positioned themselves to remain competitive just under the second apron. Currently sitting just $1.4M under the threshold. Let’s not forget their chances have increased to be among the favorites coming out of the East, aided by a relatively favorable landscape; injuries may sideline or limit perennial rivals like the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers this season. But their captain doesn’t want his teammates to take this chance lightly.
“The best part about our team is the chemistry we’ve grown and we’ve created. A lot of people help us on this journey, and to be able to be where we are now, it’s nothing to be satisfied about.” Jalen Brunson addressed the team’s mindset in an exclusive interview with Games Hub.”Hopefully we don’t have that mindset going into the season where we think we’re just going to jump back into the Eastern Conference Finals. We need to be able to go through this process again and continue to get better and the fight to get over that hump.”

Last year was also the first time Karl-Anthony Towns suited up for the Knicks. So, this season, he will be more familiar with his surroundings and his chemistry with the players. Can Mike Brown fine-tune so that two of the team’s All-Stars, Brunson and KAT, actually be the dominant duo? The preseason will give us a better look.
No doubt, with the different roster, once again, the onus will be on the captain JB to lead from the front. With a retooled rotation and a new coach, the Knicks are looking to combine talent with chemistry to navigate expectations and capitalize on a promising season.
