Since his NBA career started, Damion Lee has always been the dependable go-to guy in the reserve. So, when the entire Suns team saw Lee drop 3-pointers during the 2024 season training camp, two thoughts must have crossed their minds. One, how much they needed those very shots after finishing 25th in 3-point attempts the previous season. Second, can it last? The rotation shooting guard drained 44.5% 3-point shots in his first season in the Valley. But a brutal right knee injury sidetracked his 2023-24 season. With his return, the Suns counted on him, but also slowed his role. Last season, he played only 25 games, compared to 74 in 2022, and averaged a career-low 3.3 points with a 24% 3-point accuracy.

Fast forward to the offseason, and Phoenix refused to extend his contract. He then signed with the Israeli Basketball Premier League club Nes Ziona. With that, it’s time for his wife, Stephen Curry’s sister Sydel Lee-Curry, and the entire family to move out. But leaving the place they called home for three years now doesn’t come easy. Still, Sydel revealed in her latest Instagram reel, “WE ARE MOVING! Goodbye AZ, hello ❓ exciting times ahead for the Lee family! #bloompartner @bloomsupps.”

In the reel, she said, “Little bit of a life update for you guys. Damion going to play overseas, which you all know right now, that’s been an experience in its own. A lot of you guys also guessed that we are moving, and you are right. We have been very blessed to be able to live in one spot for long amounts of time, considering Damion’s position, his role, and stuff like that. Normally, guys who are like that, they tend to move a lot. For three years, he was with the Suns. Now with him not playing for the Suns, there’s no reason for us to be in Phoenix anymore.

“I love Phoenix… I’ve done a lot of growing up since I’ve come down here. I’ve built a community, met some amazing people… I am sad to be moving. My kids have grown up here; they have their own little friends. It’s sad, but it’s just the right move for me and my family. Now, you may be asking, ‘Sydel where you’re moving?’ I want you to guess. We’re moving out of our house this week. We don’t have a move date yet ’cause there’s just a lot of moving parts to this moving process. But we’re really excited.”

The change also holds a personal weight for Curry himself. While the Warriors star prepares for another grueling NBA season, he will be doing so knowing his sister and her young family are preparing for life overseas. It’s a separation shaped by sacrifice, and while the Currys have long been used to spreading out across states and schedules, this new chapter carries its own challenges.

That quiet honesty gave fans a glimpse into the personal toll of change, setting the stage for what came next. It confirmed that Phoenix was no longer their home base and hinted at relocation plans tied to Damion’s next professional step. This came just days after Ironi Ness Ziona of Israel announced the signing of the seven-year NBA veteran. Lee, who once averaged 12.7 points in a season with the Golden State Warriors, is now shifting overseas for a new challenge after limited minutes and injuries derailed his role in Phoenix.

The numbers underline why. Damion Lee logged 335 NBA games with career averages of 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, while shooting 37.4 percent from deep. His highlight came in 2022, when he celebrated a championship alongside Steph in Golden State. But last season’s slide, coupled with Phoenix declining to re-sign him, paved the way for his move abroad. For Sydel, it meant managing the family’s relocation, weighing the sadness of leaving Phoenix against the excitement of new opportunities.

For now, Sydel’s posts make it clear: Phoenix is in the rearview, and the next stop is still under wraps. But before that unfolds, the family’s bittersweet farewell sets up the story of Damion Lee’s quiet exit from the NBA stage.

Stephen Curry’s Sister Gets Emotional as Husband Quietly Fades Away From the NBA

Away from the headlines, Sydel Curry-Lee marked her husband’s departure with a small but telling moment. On Instagram, she shared a picture from a sushi restaurant with the caption: “Final date before he leaves 🥺😭.” It was the last outing before Damion boarded a plane for Israel, beginning his tenure with Ironi Ness Ziona. For their family of five, the caption carried the heaviness of a looming separation. Lee’s NBA path had been shrinking for some time. Once a reliable three-point specialist and rotation piece, his minutes dwindled in Phoenix. The contrast was sharp over the years.

Injuries played their part, particularly the meniscus tear that sidelined him for an entire year. By the time Phoenix’s roster shifted under new leadership, Lee’s role was all but gone. For Israel’s Ironi Ness Ziona, however, the fit made sense. The club competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and has tasted success with a FIBA Europe Cup win in 2021. The team rolled out the red carpet with a welcoming post: “Welcome Damion! 🧡 The NBA champion lands in the heart of the colony.”

That message confirmed the fresh start for the 32-year-old, and while it may not hold the spotlight of NBA arenas, it offers him a chance to play real minutes and extend his career meaningfully. Still, for Sydel and their children, the move is bittersweet. Now, with Lee turning a page to his overseas chapter, Sydel balances emotions of pride, sadness, and the challenge of relocation, all while her brother Stephen braces for a season without his closest family nearby.
