In a tight late-season race, the Boston Red Sox faced the Baltimore Orioles after dropping the series opener 6-3. The second game proved to be just as painful for Boston, as it went into extra innings and ended in a narrow 4-3 loss in the 11th. With the hard-fought victory, the Orioles secured a two-game series sweep and extended their recent hot streak to six wins in their last seven games.
Jarren Duran had a rough night, going 0-for-4. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with the Red Sox trailing by two runs and the bases loaded, he struck out on three straight pitches from reliever Rico Garcia. This missed opportunity was a key moment in the game, and following the at-bat, Duran did have a heated exchange with fans at Fenway Park.
Social media account Dugout Report shared the video, posting: “Someone at Fenway got some loving words from Jarren Duran after a 3-pitch strikeout. Duran went 0-for-4 in the Sox’ eventual 4-3 loss to Baltimore in 11 innings.” In the clip, a frustrated Duran is seen yelling, “F*** YOU, P***Y,” to the strands.

During April 27 game between Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians, a heckler targeted Duran with a comment referencing Duran’s 2022 suicide attempt. That was documented in the Netflix series “The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox”. Reportedly, Duran had to be contained by the Red Sox coaches and umpires after a fan yelled something to him. Afterwards, the Cleveland Guardians issued a formal apology for the incident.
On August 11, 2024, during a game against the Houston Astros, Duran responded to a fan by shouting a homophobic slur. As a result, the Red Sox suspended him for two games and donated his salary to an LGBTQ+ organization as a direct response. Subsequently, Duran issued a public apology, calling his language a “truly horrific word.”
Well, the game didn’t do much good to Boston either.
Red Sox’s one of the most frustrating defeats of the season
In his first two days with the Red Sox, Nathaniel Lowe made an immediate impact, hitting a game-tying, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. However, his clutch hit was the only real highlight for Boston, as the team otherwise struggled with runners in scoring position.
Ultimately, Tuesday’s 4-3 loss in 11 innings to the Baltimore Orioles will be remembered as one of the most frustrating defeats of the season.

The Red Sox went an abysmal 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position and stranded the bases loaded in three different innings—the eighth, ninth, and 10th. To make matters worse, they left the tying run at third base in the bottom of the 11th, sealing their defeat.
Manager Alex Cora was disappointed with the performance. “We chased a lot today, we haven’t done that in a while. We had opportunities to win the game early in the game, in the middle of the game, late in the game, and it just didn’t happen,” the manager said after the game.
