Brooks Koepka could have made history! After 54 holes, he was at the top of the leaderboard and in prime position to win the FedEx Open de France. After missing two straight cuts in Europe, this was his best opportunity to win a title in 2025. After a 4-under in the front 9, he also had the perfect platform to take the title and become the first American in 53 years to win the French Open. Instead, he gifted the opportunity to Michael Kim.

After a remarkable 6-under 65 in the final round, Kim ended with -16. That was enough for him to win the 2025 Open de France. As tweeted by Justin Ray, he joined the elite list of Walter Hagen, Byron Nelson, and Barry Jaeckel as one of the only four people to win the title. To think, Koepka could have achieved all this had he only performed well in the back 9 at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche. He could only manage a bogey to bring his score down to 14-under and finish 2 away from Kim.

Either way, the Smash GC captain did deliver a remarkable performance in France. After failing to qualify for the weekend in Ireland and the U.K., not many must have expected him to perform well in the French Open. Yet, he overcame the odds and nearly won what would have been his eighth European win. While his peers will head to New York next week, he will have some time off to prepare for his next big challenge in the DP World Tour.

This was his 2nd loss in the DP World Tour this year, after the BMW PGA Championship. At Wentworth, Kopeka could not even make the cut after hitting a slick 68, but a poor 75 right after.

Having said that, when will Brooks Koepka play next? Let’s look at his commitments in Europe as he continues to challenge himself after the conclusion of the LIV Golf season.

Brooks Koepka goes to St. Andrews

With the LIV Golf season over and his PGA Tour ban, Brooks Koepka is dialled in on a full-fledged DP World Tour schedule. The FedEx Open de France was his third European Tour event in a row, and he nearly managed to win the maximum from the $3.25 million. With the 2025 Ryder Cup scheduled for next week, Koepka will have some spare time to train for the next big challenge of the season. And he will need all the practice he can get, as he will be playing on the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Brooks Koepka is committed to playing the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in the first week of October. In fact, he’s not the only LIV Golf pro scheduled to feature in the event. The tournament will also field Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, and Tyrrell Hatton. Hatton will probably be Koepka’s biggest challenger on the course as he will be coming in as the defending champion and the only pro to win it three times. Padraig Harrington will also be in the field trying to match the Legion XIII player’s record, as he has previously won the tournament twice.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Brooks Koepka choke under pressure, or was Michael Kim just too good in the final round?
