The weather is wild in Arkansas at the moment. The first round of the 2025 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship was packed with some exciting action. Fans were thrilled to see Alison Lee play her second LPGA Tour event of the season and enjoyed the fact that she was tied for third after the end of the first day. She started the second round promisingly as well, going 1-under within the first three holes to tie for first place. However, her efforts to bag her first LPGA Tour win were abruptly cut short due to the weather. And the latest reports reveal that she will not get the opportunity to go for the win at the Pinnacle Country Club.
As per the latest tweet by LPGA Media, “The course received 3.25” of rain last night and after having assessed the golf course and consulted with our meteorologist and superintendent, the golf course is unplayable. Based on the weather forecast for the remainder of today and all-day Monday and Tuesday, it is highly unlikely that 36 holes could be completed to make it an official event. As a result, the decision has been made to cancel the remainder of the tournament, with only players’ 18-hole score counting.”
Yes, the $3 million LPGA Tour event has been completely cancelled. That means Lee won’t get the opportunity to win the tournament and grab the first-ever LPGA Tour win of her career. It would have been the perfect way to celebrate her return after she was out of action for the entire season, giving birth to her son, Levi. She played at Queen City last week as well, but missed the cut there. So this was her first big performance since her comeback. But the most upsetting factor in this entire situation is the fact that she had to stay away from her newborn baby and she couldn’t amount it for anything.

Lee had expressed how she had ‘mom guilt’ for staying away from Levi for so long. But, she won’t be coming home empty-handed as the tweet from LPGA Media confirmed that the sponsors will compensate the players who participated in the event. “Our partners at Walmart and P&G have committed to ensuring every player receives compensation regardless of where they stand on the leaderboard after 18 holes of play,” read the tweet. But that still won’t make up for a possible title win for Alison.

When will Alison Lee make her next LPGA Tour appearance?
It had been nearly a year since Alison Lee had not played on the LPGA Tour. Her last appearance was in the 2024 Maybank Championship, where she withdrew from the first round itself. Since then, Lee has taken a maternity leave from the fairway, unbeknownst to the golf community. In March 2025, the 30-year-old revealed that she was pregnant with a caption, “Coming soon…” Soon, Lee gave birth to her son, Levi and has been busy being a mother ever since.
However, now that she is back on the road, the LPGA Tour star is not planning to back down. After playing the Kroger Queen City Championship and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, she is planning to join the field for a third straight event. Yes, Alison Lee will be on the field for the LOTTE Championship from October 1-4, 2025. She will be joined by other top stars like Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, and retiring LPGA Tour star, Stacy Lewis. Hopefully, Lee will be able to carry her great form to Hawaii and try to win her first LPGA Tour title once again.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the weather rob Alison Lee of her first LPGA win, or was it just bad luck?
