When Devin Haney steps into headlines, it’s usually tied to his flawless record or the next big fight. Yet lately, the undefeated boxer has been making waves for matters far outside the ring. Fans expecting news about his training camp or rumored matchups instead found themselves staring at court documents and allegations.
At the center of this swirl is not a rival fighter, but Haney’s former partner, Leena Sayed. Their split earlier this year already carried drama, restraining orders, allegations, countersuits, but fresh legal filings suggest the story is far from over. As whispers of designer handbags and luxury watches circulate, the spotlight has shifted from sports pages to courtrooms.

Devin Haney sues ex-girlfriend to recover $350K in gifts
Last week, Haney filed in Los Angeles County, alleging that luxury items such as Hermes handbags, an Audemars Piguet watch, a diamond ring and earrings, among other designer pieces, were given to Sayed under the premise they would marry. Since their engagement was called off, Haney argues that under California law, gifts given in contemplation of marriage must be returned if the marriage does not happen.
The unsurprising reason behind these gifts, according to Devin Haney, is the fact that they were going to get married, and these gifts were taken on that premise. But the 26-year-old said Leena Sayed called off their relationship, which, according to California Law, means that she needs to return all that she took from Haney.
Haney’s filing doesn’t stop at the $350,000 valuation. He’s also asking for damages topping half a million dollars, citing financial and reputational harm. That escalation has turned what could’ve been written off as a private breakup into a headline-grabbing legal fight.

This statute has shaped other high-profile disputes in California, from celebrities battling over engagement rings to athletes reclaiming lavish tokens after canceled weddings. Haney’s case could set a new precedent by expanding the fight beyond one symbolic ring to an entire suite of luxury goods. Meanwhile, this is not the first time the law has been involved between Devin Haney and Leena Sayed. Another legal issue took place between the former couple, and it wasn’t that long ago. Let’s take a look at that front.

Haney’s previous legal issues with Leena Sayed
The gap between the first legal issue and the second legal issue between Devin Haney and Leena Sayed is only weeks. That’s because not too long ago, or we can say just recently, ‘The Dream’s first instance of suing his ex-girlfriend involved him taking her to court for defamation and extortion. Haney revealed that Sayed had threatened him to air his dirty laundry in public and tarnish his reputation.
Moving over to the extortion charges, that’s where things get a little ugly. Devin Haney claims that Leena Sayed was using their only child, their daughter Khrome, and even curbed his rights to see her. Some reports also claim that Haney alleged that his daughter was a way for his former partner to get paid. But the court’s ruling favored Sayed, who obtained a restraining order against ‘The Dream’, after some past domestic abuse allegations came to light. However, Haney and his team have repeatedly denied these and other allegations as well.

Leena Sayed’s legal representative claims that she is only trying to legally obtain child support and that Devin Haney’s new lawsuit is a means to retaliate against the restraining order.
